Can I keep my car in bankruptcy?

The short answer is yes. You first must determine how much equity do you have in the car. Most people have a loan on their vehicle. Take the value of the vehicle and subtract the balance of the loan and also subtract the state vehicle exemption to determine if there is any equity. If there is any excess equity then you can arrange to purchase that excess back from the trustee over the next twelve month period. If there is no excess equity then there is no need to pay the trustee anything.
